Church brings Christmas Joy to 40 Guests

People who would otherwise spend Christmas Day alone will enjoy a dinner with Cyncoed Methodist Church parishioners and the community.

Around 40 guests, many of whom are elderly or live on their own, will spend Christmas Day at the church, enjoying the festivities of the day which will begin with a carol service at 10.30am, followed by dinner with all the trimmings and the Queen's speech.

The Rev. Peter Holwell said: "Cooking Christmas dinner for 40 people is no mean feat and our two fantastic cooks, who are members of the church, are supported by a team of around 50 local people to ensure the day runs smoothly."

Cyncoed Methodist Church has been hosting Christmas dinner for 26 years, with many guests returning to spend Christmas Day at the church every year.

Each guest will also be given a small present, a Christmas card and a slice of Christmas cake.

The entire day, from the sprouts to the turkey, is funded by church members while local legal firm Mooneerams Solicitors, Personal Injury Specialists, is funding a fleet of taxi drivers to take guests back home once the day's events are over.
