Running up funds for good causes

A CARDIFF-BASED personal injury law firm raised more than £1,200 for charity last year.

Mooneerams Solicitors has raised money for charities such as the British Heart Foundation Cymru, the Citizens Advice Bureau, Women's Aid, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Latch and Diabetes UK Cymru over the past 12 months.

Funds were raised through the firm and its staff taking part in and sponsoring a number of events during the year, including a Cardiff 5K fun run, a festive fun run in Penarth and hosting a clothes swap. On Christmas Day, Mooneerams also funded a fleet of taxi drivers to take members of the public attending a Christmas service at Cyncoed Methodist Church back to their homes.

In addition to the pounds 1,200 it raised itself, Mooneerams also provided and served as official witnesses for a successful World Record Attempt to play the most consecutive opponents in squash singles, which raised more than pounds 4,000 for Latch.

Vin Mooneeram, a partner at Mooneerams Solicitors, says: "When we set out to support certain charities at the start of the year, we didn't ever envisage raising as much as we have, so it's fantastic that we have been able to do so for such worthy causes."
