Mooneerams Solicitors are delighted to announce 2wish, as their charity partners for 2023.

Llanrisant based 2wish were one of five charities shortlisted, after the public were invited to nominate who they wanted to become Mooneerams new charity partners for the next twelve months.

Nominations opened in mid-January for a month and over 1700 people sent in nominations for their choice of charity via the dedicated page set up on Mooneerams website.

Sixty-six different Welsh charities received nominations after a social media campaign invited Mooneerams friends and followers on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn to send in nominations. A shortlist of the five charities who attracted most votes was drawn up and from these, the name of 2wish was chosen at random after being the first name out of the hat.

2wish has as its mission, to:

“… ensure that all those affected by the sudden death of a child or a young adult aged 25 or under throughout Wales receive the support they deserve.”

Support is provided to families, individuals, witnesses (to the tragic event), and professionals. The charity recognises that bereavement and loss have no time frame and provides help to anyone affected by the sudden death of a child or young adult, even if the death took place many years ago.

The founder of 2wish is Rhian Mannings, who created the charity in memory of her baby son George and her late husband Paul.

George was just one year, one day and one week old when he died suddenly on 22nd February 2012. Paul tragically passed away just 5 days later.

Everyone at Mooneerams looks forward to working with Rhian and her fabulous team throughout the year.

Alistair Worth, the Managing Director of Mooneerams Solicitors, said:

“ This year we decided the fairest way of choosing Mooneerams charity partners for the year, was by involving members of the public, and asking them to nominate their favourite Welsh based charity. To say we were overwhelmed by the response we received is an understatement and I want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of them

Any of the charities nominated would have been worthy partners. This has been a humbling and heart-warming experience for us.

In the end, the 2wish name was drawn from the hat containing our shortlist of five most voted for charity partners.

We are thrilled and feel privileged that we shall be working with Rhian and all the amazing team at 2wish over the coming months. It’s a wonderful charity that does so much for people whose lives are turned upside down by the death of a child or young adult. We will do everything to raise as much in the way of funds and awareness for this great cause, as we possibly can.”

Rhian Mannings, CEO and founder at 2wish, said:

“We are absolutely delighted to have been chosen as Charity of the Year by Mooneerams. We are very much looking forward to working closely with the team to help raise awareness and funds for 2wish. When a family loses a child or young adult the effects are devastating for all who knew and loved them. Your support will help us ensure that all those affected by the sudden and traumatic death of a child or young adult aged 25 or under throughout Wales receive the bereavement support they deserve.

Thank you so much to everyone who voted for 2wish, we are very grateful.”

The four other shortlisted charities were:

  • Valley Daffodils – a small, inclusive charity to help individuals disabilities and additional learning needs, and their families.
  • Llamau – whose mission is to eradicate homelessness for young people and vulnerable women.
  • Signposted Cymru – a charity dedicated to “providing initial and immediate intervention for individuals struggling, suffering and needing support with mental health and well-being issues”.
  • Tenovus Cancer Care – an organisation that works tirelessly “to give hope, help and a voice to anyone affected by cancer, in and around the community.”

Mooneerams has donated £250 to each of the four charities who joined 2wish on the final shortlist.
