This week has been a very special one for five members of the Mooneerams team.
Beth Davies, Ffion Palmer, Fraser Worth, Rhys Pugh and Shannon Richards (pictured below) have all qualified as solicitors.
It is a tremendous achievement for each of them.
Becoming a solicitor takes years of study, training and sheer hard work. There are plenty of exams, long hours and probably a few difficult moments along the way, too. Reaching the point where you can finally call yourself a qualified solicitor is something to be extremely proud of.
This is, first and foremost, Beth, Ffion, Fraser, Rhys and Shannon’s week. It is also a very proud moment for their families, who have supported and encouraged them throughout those years.
Everyone at Mooneerams is absolutely delighted for them.
Their achievement is particularly pleasing for us for another reason.
All five were born in South Wales and brought up in our local communities of Ferndale, Caerphilly, Tonteg, Aberdare and Dinas Powys.
They also studied here in Wales, attending Cardiff University, Swansea University and the University of South Wales.
At Mooneerams, we have always been keen to give talented people from the South Wales area the chance to build a career in law.
We are looking for ability, of course, but there is much more to becoming a good solicitor than academic qualifications alone. Being able to talk to people, listen to them and appreciate what they may be going through, particularly when working with people who have been injured in accidents, are character traits that we value highly.
Most of all, we want aspiring solicitors from all backgrounds to have the opportunity to realise their ambitions. If someone has the ability, enthusiasm and determination to succeed, we want to help give them that chance.

“You watch them come into the firm at the beginning of their careers, perhaps a little unsure of themselves at first, and over time you see their confidence grow, their judgement improves and their personalities come through in the way they deal with clients and colleagues.
“Beth, Ffion, Fraser, Rhys and Shannon have all made that journey in their own way. They are very different people, which is exactly as it should be, but they all have the qualities we value in our solicitors.
“For me, this week is not just about five people gaining a qualification. It is about seeing five people we have watched grow within the firm reach a point they have worked towards for years. That is something everyone at Mooneerams can take a great deal of pride in.”
Their qualification is good news for the firm and our clients, too.
The addition of Fraser, Beth, Shannon, Rhys and Ffion means that Mooneerams now has 14 practising solicitors, further strengthening our personal injury and clinical negligence teams.
There will be plenty of time for them to get used to life as qualified solicitors.
For this week, though, they should simply enjoy what they have achieved.
Congratulations Beth, Ffion, Fraser, Rhys and Shannon from everyone at Mooneerams. We are very proud of you.
