At Mooneerams Solicitors, our clients always come first. We live by the yardstick that as long as our clients are happy with the quality of the work we do for them, then we too are content. Our 5* reviews on customer rating sites such as Trustpilot tend to suggest we are doing something right in our clients’ eyes.
So, when we were invited to enter the Wales Legal Awards again in 2022, we did so with no great expectations. That’s not to say we don’t care what our peers think of us. Respect from fellow lawyers is always welcome, but we don’t seek it out.
You can therefore imagine how shocked we were when on Friday night, at the first live Wales Legal Awards ceremony since 2019, Mooneerams was announced as ‘Personal Injury Team of the Year 2022‘.
First established in 2019, The Wales Legal Awards celebrate the success of teams and individuals from Welsh law firms who provide legal services to the people of Wales and beyond. The award winners are decided on by a panel of judges from across the legal sector.
Before a packed audience at the Mercure Holland House Hotel in Cardiff, Mooneerams Managing Director, Alistair Worth, led nine of his colleagues onto the stage to collect the award from Deputy News Editor for the Law Society Gazette, John Hyde.
The evening was hosted by the well-known BBC TV presenter Sian Lloyd.
After the event, Alistair Worth expressed his feelings about Mooneerams winning the award for Personal Injury Team of the Year:
“I’ll be honest in saying that we only entered the awards at the last minute. Even after we were placed on a shortlist of four for the PI team of the Year award, I never thought of us as likely winners. Sure, we do what it says on the tin, in that we are a purely personal injury firm acting only for claimants; that is, for the people making a claim, and we have been so, ever since we started the firm in 2002. However, we’ve never much pushed ourselves forwards for recognition, preferring to be judged by our clients.
That being said, for a panel of eminent judges to have decided that Mooneerams deserve to be handed the title of Personal Injury Team of the Year just left me speechless on the evening. I am only glad I wasn’t asked to make an acceptance speech on receiving the award, as I could not have uttered a word for once!
This September, we’ll celebrate Mooneerams 20th anniversary, and the award is a more than fitting early birthday present. We still have the same philosophy now that we had back then in 2002; to help the innocent, injured victims of accidents that are not their fault, and recover compensation from the insurers of the person (or company) responsible for those injuries. We like to say that we try to put right, wrongs – and mostly, we do just that.
I want to dedicate the award to my colleagues at Mooneerams. They comprise a small, tightly knit group of exceptional lawyers combined with a super-efficient support team. More importantly, they are all smashing people, and it is a pleasure to work with them.
We’ll just carry on doing what we do best – writing wrongs for the injured victims of accidents in Wales.”
